5. Brussels 🇧🇪 🟢

As previously reported, Lime & Voi have challenged the city’s selection process and will keep operating until their licences run out. Brussels will challenge this decision, as it means the tender they brought in to reduce scooters to a fleet 8,000 will have been unsuccessful. 4 companies will continue to operate, with around 14,000 vehicles in operation.

However, there is another tender opening up in the city, and this is for ‘innovative’ shared mobility projects. There are 5 licences, each for 1,000 vehicles.

4. Amsterdam 🇳🇱 ✅

More uproar followed the Amsterdam tender for cargo bikes and mopeds. felyx, one of the pioneers of shared mobility in Amsterdam, was not selected for a licence to operate mopeds. GO Sharing and Check have each secured licences for 650 mopeds each, whilst BAQME has secured a licence for cargo bikes. The CEO of felyx has stated that this decision may be fatal for felyx.

We estimate that Amsterdam represents 25% of the national shared moped market, and this will grow when the new licences come into effect, which raises the fleet cap from 770 to 1,200.
