📁 Superpedestrian declared bankrupt — again

Shared scooter operator Superpedestrian Europe BV filed for bankruptcy, marking the end of an attempted revival under new ownership. The company had been acquired in March 2024 by Norwegian micromobility operator Surf Beyond, which purchased its 25,000 e-scooters for approximately €5 million and retained around 80% of the European staff.

Despite initial optimism, the takeover failed to deliver the expected turnaround. Superpedestrian Europe BV struggled to reach profitability and was unable to secure any major tenders over the past year. The company also had to withdraw from several cities, including Málaga.

It remains unclear whether the bankruptcy of the European entity will have direct financial or operational consequences for Surf Beyond itself.

TIER-Dott

TIER-Dott has refurbished 9,700 scooters last year, according to its 2024 Sustainability Report. This brings the total number of vehicles refurbished to date to 25,000.

The company believes to have added an estimated 6.5 million trips to public transport, through encouraging intermodality. A user survey found that 41% of our rides connect with public transport.

The impact of shared mobility on car use is significant. The report finds that 40.5 million kilometres of car travel have been avoided, the equivalent of +4,000 tonnes of CO2, and €17 million in external societal costs.
