🇫🇷 Station-based car-sharing continues to rule France

The Association des Acteurs de l'Autopartage (French Car Sharing Association) has published its latest report. It shows that station-based vehicles make up 90% of the market, and that free-floating has struggled to expand past the largest cities.
There were 22 station-based operators providing 12,655 vehicles, of which 8% are electric, and over 330,000 unique users. On the other side, there were just 9 free-floating operators providing 1,207 vehicles, but 63% of these vehicles were electric. The report finds a little over 55,000 unique users for free-floating systems. Overall:
Vehicles grew +3.7%, to 13,662
Unique active users grew +6.3% to 388,000
On the free-floating side, there Zity’s departure means that there is now just 1 operator in Paris, and 2 in Lyon. The number of vehicles has been reduced by 44% in 2 years, and the number of active users by 43%. The situation is unlikely to improve: several services have already announced closures in 2025.
🇩🇪 German Transport Minister Pushes for Sidewalk Ban

German Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder wants to allow cities to ban the parking of shared e-scooters and bikes on sidewalks. Only private vehicles will be allowed to park there.
Scooter rental companies warn that new German regulations effectively ban shared vehicle parking in public spaces. They argue the rules would force them off the market by requiring impractical, station-based systems.
The Shared Mobility Platform (PSM) urges lawmakers to drop the proposal to avoid "irreparable damage" to the industry.
