📬 Operators urge UK to end ‘revenue share’ bidding

The UK’s major shared micromobility operators (Voi, Lime, Dott, Forest, Bolt) and CoMoUK have written an open letter to the government to reform local authorities’ selection processes of shared bike and scooter schemes.

The letter highlights a key issue : the rising trend of local authorities choosing operators to run their schemes to based on revenue share.

“It is now commonplace for local authorities to seek onerous financial commitments from operators within tenders, often disproportionate in weighting. As a result, the percentage of future revenue offered by bidders frequently becomes the deciding factor in contract awards, often at the expense of service quality, safety, affordability, and both rider and non-rider experience”.

The impact of this trend risks the return of unsustainable business models for operators and higher prices for users, which benefits no one.

💰 Tuul acquired by Ride Mobility

Estonian scooter operator Tuul has sold its hardware and intellectual property to the Latvian company Ride Mobility.

Founded in 2020, Tuul had been loss-making for several years, with the losses in 2024 totalling €904,000, and revenue slipping 7% from €2.89m to €2.69m.

Ride Mobility, which began offering a moped rental service in Tallinn this spring, has taken over Tuul's operations in Tallinn and Riga.

INDUSTRY NEWS 🗞️

CoMoUK and operators Voi, Lime, Dott, Forest and Bolt urge UK to end highest bidder bias in micromobility contracts.

Standab, which develops universal charging infrastructure for scooters, bikes, and other light EVs, raises €3.6m to expand into 15 European cities. The company’s charging stations are compatible with over 85% of existing micromobility fleets and, in pilots, have shown a 50% reduction in charging costs.

That’s all for this week.
