🇬🇧 Lyft Urban Solutions and Serco to deliver the next chapter Santander Cycles

In partnership with Lyft Urban Solutions

Lyft Urban Solutions and Serco will continue to power Santander Cycles following a contract announcement by Transport for London (TfL). This renewed partnership extends a collaboration that has delivered over 142 million bikeshare rides since 2010, cementing its status as one of Europe’s largest and most popular systems.

The 10-year, £220m contract will bring a suite of major enhancements to the system. These include in-dock charging infrastructure (paving the way for more ebikes), a fully zero-emission operational fleet, and an enhanced mobile app for a better user experience. These innovations will transform how millions experience sustainable urban mobility.

“By combining deep operational experience with industry-leading technology, we are ensuring Santander Cycles remains a global benchmark in bikeshare excellence,” said Michael Brous, Head of Lyft Urban Solutions. “This renewal reinforces our joint commitment to meeting London's ambitious sustainable transport goals.”

🔴 The end of the road for Zity

Renault Mobilize is discontinuing its electric car sharing service (Zity) and slowing down the expansion of its fast-charging infrastructure, as it redirects investments toward more profitable business areas.

Just days after Mobilize announced the closure of Zity in Milan (IT), the end is now confirmed for Madrid (ES)—the last city still in operation. The decision also spells the end for the Mobilize Duo microcar.

To put the situation in perspective, each car in Milan was generating losses of around 400€ per month, with a total fleet of 650 vehicles.
