🇳🇱 felyx returns to hometown Amsterdam

Exactly one year after its departure, felyx will make a strong return to its home city of Amsterdam. The shared moped company is taking over the moped permit from GO Sharing, who stopped operating in January due to rising costs and the disappointing utilization.
Felyx has re-launched with 300 vehicles that will grow to 600, and are also introducing photo verification for parking, ensuring its shared mopeds contribute to “a cleaner, more organized city”. The permit allows felyx to operate until 1st April 2026, and an extension is possible.
“Last year, Go Sharing won Amsterdam’s mobility tender but ceased operations after just 10 months. Now, Felyx returns as part of the Spanish Cooltra Group, further strengthening its presence in Europe with a diverse fleet of e-mopeds and e-bikes in multiple cities.”
— Daan Becker, CEO of Felyx
A step in the right direction for mopeds?
felyx’s return to Amsterdam is good news for the industry. The company — now part of the Cooltra Group — is in a great position to give fresh impetus to moped sharing in The Netherlands.
2024 was tough: new rules for helmets in The Netherlands, coupled with felyx’s forced departure from Amsterdam and the second decline of GO Sharing, meant that the strongest country for moped sharing was severely affected. We also saw the end of Acciona services in Italy, and disruption to the market in Paris with the end of Cityscoot.
Despite this, ridership somehow remained consistent with vehicle counts, which is a positive sign given the challenges faced in 2024.
We see potential for a strong recovery for mopeds, but with limited geographical expansion. The new, expanded Barcelona scheme will be the jewel in the crown, however growth will be limited to cities where mopeds are tried and tested.
