⛳️ Europe Wins the RIDER Cup

Europe retained the Ryder Cup on Sunday; but how do the regions compare in terms of shared mobility? NABSA’s 2024 State of the Industry Report, released in August, finds that North Americans took an estimated 225 million trips on shared bikes and scooters in 2024, representing a 31% increase on 2023, setting a new ridership record.
We took the latest numbers on North America and compared them to our findings from the European Index. Trips on scooters and station-based and dockless bikes in Europe reached 550 million, but with 2.5 times the number of vehicles (849,000 vs 333,000).

🇳🇱 10 Operators Team Up to Promote Shared Mobility in The Netherlands

Check, Donkey Republic, Drop Mobility, Greenwheels, Hely, Lime, MyWheels, OnzeAuto, Shuttel and Snappcar have launched an online magazine to show the variety of different forms of shared mobility available to municipalities ahead of the elections in the Netherlands.
This edition explains how shared mobility works and can be implemented, and gives recommendations for future development. It features:
How to define shared mobility legally & fiscally: Enable measures such as reduced VAT, road tax exemptions for electric shared vehicles, integration with student travel cards, etc.
Anchoring shared mobility in urban planning: Make it a hard requirement in the construction of new homes; modernize parking norms to prioritize housing, green space, and shared mobility over private parking.
Integrating with sustainable transport: Applying the STOMP principle (walking, cycling, OV first); reduce private parking spaces, differentiate permits, increase parking fees, and reserve premium spots for shared mobility hubs linked to public transport.
Collaborating with providers: Avoid overregulation, use national model clauses, provide long-term certainty (e.g., open-house tenders), enable multiple operators to scale while keeping diversity and innovation.
The goal is to persuade government that, by creating the right conditions, providers can deliver healthy business cases, fewer cars, and more space for people.
