💰 Donkey Republic kicks down records in 2024

Donkey Republic achieved a total revenue of €19 million in 2024, marking an impressive 25% increase compared to 2023. The growth was even more remarkable in Q4 2024, with revenue surging by 47% to €4.5 million and ridership increasing by 35% to 1.8 million trips.

The full breakdown of their 2024 performance can be seen below.

A key driver of this growth is the outstanding performance of the newly launched e-bike fleet. Although the return on investment was originally projected for 2025, it materialized ahead of schedule in Q4, resulting in a significant boost in both ridership and revenue.

For 2025, Donkey Republic projects revenue between €22 million and €25 million, driven by anticipated fleet growth of 10-15%. This includes the deployment of 1,500 additional bikes in the first half of the year and 1,000-2,000 bikes in the second half.

⛔️ Málaga latest to ban scooters

Following Madrid's lead, the City of Málaga will implement a ban on shared bikes and scooters.

In December 2022, seven companies—Dott, Bolt, Lime, Voi, Link, Tier, and Bird—were granted temporary licences to operate shared bikes and scooters. These licences included provisions allowing revocation or modification at any time for public interest reasons, without compensation.

Citing widespread issues with improper parking on walkways and public spaces, Mayor Francisco de la Torre has decided to revoke all licences. Since 2020, approximately 5,000 fines have been issued for improper parking, highlighting persistent challenges.

Operators have 10 days to present their case, but the decision is final and cannot be appealed administratively.
