💨 Cooltra overtakes Cityscoot

The Court of Commerce of Paris has confirmed the acquisition of Cityscoot by Cooltra, saving the moped-sharing pioneer from bankruptcy. The Spanish operator was the last bidder with an offer of €400,000 for the assets and user base, and a promise to keep 30 out of 168 Cityscoot’s employees.

Cooltra plans to build on the Cityscoot brand to widen its footprint in France and should spend €1.5m over the next two years to finance the merger and expansion. Cityscoot’s users can move smoothly to Cooltra with their initial accounts. In Paris, where they were competitors, Cooltra will scrap Cityscoot’s mopeds.

So what will happen with Paris’ shared moped licences?

💪 BikeMi comes back stronger

It began with 2 declared incidents of loose saddles. But the second resulted in local journalist Alessandra Velluto falling, who told the story on social media.

With a new tender in sight, the current operator of Milan’s bike-share service, IGP (owned by JCDecaux), had to react quickly: it launched an engineering study on the faulty component, then a large-scale retrofit of its entire e-bike fleet (1,000 vehicles), and part of its mechanical fleet over a couple of weeks! Finally, IGP chose to close the service for a few days to control the entire fleet.

You can now seat and ride safely on a BikeMi!
