🇧🇪 Brussels breaks hearts

Understandably, there were going to be more dissatisfied operators than satisfied - especially when a city receives 27 offers from 15 operators for just 9 services.

Bolt and Dott will be thrilled with the result: they snapped up the two permits for scooters and also won slots to operate electric bikes. Voi won the third permit for dockless bikes.

The notable absentee is Lime, who will have to ramp-down operations alongside Gliize, Poppy (who stay with shared cars) and Bodaz. The grace period ends on 1st February.

Pony and TIER were chosen to operate cargo bikes, and felyx & GO Sharing for mopeds.

🛴 Rocky end to the year for Bird

Just after Superpedestrian announced that they would stop all operations, Bird Global filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the end of December.

Last year, Bird acquired Spin from TIER, which was followed by a round of lay-offs.

Although this does not impact the operations of Bird Canada or Bird Europe in the short-term, it does raise the question: what does 2024 have in store for shared mobility?
