šŸ”„ GO Sharing in, felyx out

The hotly-anticipated tender for mopeds and cargo bikes in Amsterdam reached its conclusion last week. The number of mopeds in the city is being increased from 770 to 1,200.

Check and felyx were the operators before the tender but, felyx will be replaced by GO Sharing. It is a 2-year initial contract, with the ability to renew twice for one additional year (2+1+1). The new permits will come into effect in June.

BAQME won the licence to operate 750 cargo bikes in the city, as Amsterdam re-affirms their trust in this mode.

šŸ›“ Brussels selection appealed

Just before their scooters were due to be removed from the streets of Brussels, both Lime & Voi challenged the cityā€™s decision to award licences to other companies. They won.

The basis for the ruling was that the decision (finding 2 operators from 15 applications) was made too quickly, and lacked transparency.

Fluctuo estimates that there will continue to be around 15,500 scooters on the streets until this issue is resolved, or until their licences expire. For Voi, this is 23/08/2024, and for Lime this is 03/07/2025.

It has been suggested - beyond wanting a transparent outcome - that Limeā€™s motivation is to stop Bolt from having a stronghold in the city of Brussels. For Voi, it could be because they were chosen for bikes and not scooters, putting them at a major disadvantage compared to Bolt and Dott.

Brussels will be appealing the decision.
