5. Newcastle 🇬🇧 ✅

Neuron’s permit has been extended until May 2026 in Newcastle.

After the Madrid decision to renege on scooter services, there seems to be a growing ‘anti-scooter’ sentiment in Spain - from the municipalities, not the users. This, however, has not affected UK municipalities, and many of them are still calling for a quick decision on scooter legislation so that they can make schemes permanent.

4. Barcelos 🇵🇹 ✅

Nextbike have won their first contract in Portugal, in Barcelos. It looks like a free-floating system, with an initial launch of 200 bikes. Whilst it is not the largest scheme, it is a significant development for the recently sold company, who re-focus completely on bike-sharing after the split from TIER-Dott.
